The cancer of bowel can result in less pain in the early stages. However, it also has some symptoms such as blood in your faeces. These can be mixed into your faeces or appear as flecks on the surface. The patients may undergo the persistent changes in your bowel habit for several weeks. Apart from these symptoms, there is weight loss without any obvious reason and/or loss of appetite. You may discover that the pain, or a lump or swelling in your abdomen (tummy) will come to you.

The cancer of bowel can be detected by some tests such as a colonoscopy, a sigmoidoscopy, a barium enema and a virtual colonoscopy. An ultrasound scan of your abdomen is used to see if the cancer has spread. A CT scan can be used to show the position of the tumor and MRI scan aims to show two- and three-dimensional pictures of your bowel. When see the doctors, they will be responsible for asking about your symptoms and examining you. Depending on the size of the tumour, its position and whether it has spread, the doctor can show you a right treatment. Anyway, the treatment can help get rid of the symptoms and signs.
